Introduction:
I've always had a big head. I mean, really big. As a kid, I would wear hats that were two sizes too big just so they would fit. And even then, they would always be a little snug.
I didn't think much of it until I moved to Austin, Texas in 2009. That's when I went bull-riding for the first and only time.
I was young and lacking some of the common sense I have today. And I was in Texas, after all, so I thought "why not give bull-riding a shot?"
We had a former rodeo competitor take us out to a ranch outside of Austin and get us geared up. As you can probably imagine, one of the most essential pieces of equipment was some headgear to protect my dome!
For all the rookies, that headgear was a hockey mask.
As you probably already know from my company and mission, I've got a huge head. So when I went to put that headgear on, the hockey mask only fit enough to get about halfway down my face.
My eyes were where my nose was supposed to be. My nose was where my mouth was supposed to be. And my mouth and everything below it was left exposed.
Needless to say, I made it out of there fully without any injuries. And it was really fun at the time, probably mostly because I lived to tell about it. But I will always remember the laughs and slight level of humiliation I got from feeling like an idiot riding a bull with a hockey mask that couldn't properly protect my head.
The Beginning of Dome
That experience inspired me to create a hat company for people with larger heads. I wanted to make sure that everyone, regardless of their head size, could find a hat that fit and looked good.
It wasn't easy. It took a lot of trial and error to find a supplier who could make hats in larger sizes. But I finally found one, and I'm proud to say that my company now offers a wide variety of hats for people with larger heads.
We have hats for every occasion, from baseball caps to fedoras to beanies. And we offer a variety of colors and styles to choose from.
I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find a hat that fits, so I want to make sure that everyone feels confident and comfortable wearing our hats.
